Schadenfruede is the daughter of Fraell and Mageria, Blackleaf's only Teifling couple. The pair settled in Blackleaf after fleeing the country of Darverus for some reason they have thus far managed never to elaborate on. (It was likely political.) They have managed here by keeping their heads down and working hard. After twenty years they have been accepted by most of the town — at least those who like to display evidence of their open-mindedness by befriending a non-human. Together the couple operates Blackleaf's leather goods shop, thought their tastes run a little heavily towards metal studs and spikes for some.

Fraell and Mageria have promoted the fiction that their daughter is a wizard, and not a warlock. Any warlock would be in deep trouble in Blackleaf, and a teifling warlock would likely never see a trial. What Schadenfruede will do when confronted by a real wizard who can see that she doesn't possess the wizard's sigil, only time will tell.
